Artist Talk Blog Post

Terez Lacovino was very poor when she was in school and after school and she didn’t know what she was going to do and she didn’t have an actual place to live when she got out of school. She applied to women’s studio workshop. it became a huge part of her life. She made 250$ a month and didn’t have to pay rent. She got to meet a lot o artists and work with them. She made a lot of prints there. She was afraid to leave but then she got an opportunity to go to a studio.

She made a sign that was created to confuse people even when we usually see those signs they are usually a warning but she made it fun and Safe.

she messed around with a lot of objects that were interactive for people to play with. Like food.

She had to learn building skills which helped her to seek out through mentors and students to bring everything all together. She wants her work to transform. She went on an exhibition over the summer in the Nash gallery. She collaborated with another girl and they recreated a kitchen that was covered in post-it notes and several other exhibitions.

She sees Curator as a caretaker, connector, and as a student. She says she has a respect for art that she wasn’t interested in before but now she is. The connected was a story teller and a student is always learning on a job and everything will be a learning opportunity and you will continue to learn and grow.

Her talk was very interesting as a whole and it was refreshing to see that someone struggled yet still found many opportunities to get to where she wants to be today. She showed that it was hard but it was worth the long road to her journey. She seemed to encourage other people in the call and try and push them to be the best they can with what they have.
