WEARABLE ART: THE BODY ARTISTS
Hector Sos created the series of “Paper Face”. “The project was created with the intention of linking CreatorVol paper use, paper for the publishing industry as natural, alive, and nearby, which created a relationship between paper and face.” ( Bronze Laus 2010, Art Direction in Photography )

These pieces are the three that I chose because of how unique and different they are from each other. For the first one the paper is given the strength to the project as a whole and it is there to act as if it is the attitude of who the person is. The paper is on the face in a way that doesn’t exactly sticky out so far and you can’t really see any facial details.
The second piece Manipulates the body because when you look at someone the only things sticking out from their faces is their nose and sometimes their lips. But seeing the paper reach out from the subject is a weird thing. The paper seems to overtake the subjects face as a whole yet leaves some gaps to see that the piece doesn’t completely consume the person as a whole.
The third piece I picked was a little different from the rest. The last two had almost like pure forms and this one looked like rolled up ribbons. The way that the paper is curled is really satisfying and pleasing to the eye. The paper consumes the whole face and only leaves out the hair and the rest of the body. The paper changes the whole shape of the face. It gets rid of all the facial details.
The materials seem pretty simple, paper and whatever they mount the paper onto the face with. all the materials have been used in the same way in each work besides being different shapes and sizes.
I think that anything could be possible through this way of making because you can form paper in many different ways and you can place it almost anywhere. Paper is kind of fragile which makes this piece so much better because they could be destroyed if they went into the rain or fell and crushed it all. The colors also play a huge roll in the making of the piece. The colors control how people view these, like if the colors didn’t go well together people wouldn’t like looking at them, but since all the color compliment each other the colors work really well. I could see them making the paper the whole body and really changing the way that someone will view a body. when we look at someone we notice all the details on how they look but with this paper we can’t see any detail other than the slight shape of the body. It really makes you think super hard about who the person is and not what they look like.
